  • GENERAL INFO: Thanks for considering Artemis for your closet castaways! Please read through all our tips on making the buying/selling process as smooth as possible. We curate our inventory very carefully and are selective with what we buy based on style, condition and potential for resale. At this time we don’t take any clothing in via mail, and buy only in person in our retail store in South Portland, Maine. We source with all people in mind, and we do not believe clothing should be inherently gendered. We are a queer owned business and are a safe space for all to be welcomed and respected!

  • SELLING DOS: We are looking for the BEST items you have, in both style and condition. We have limited space so we have a 2 bag max per person. Please use sturdy, handled shopping bags. No trash bags (they rip too easily), boxes, vacuum sealed bags, or clothes on hangers please. We buy only in-season clothing sizes 16/XL and above. This includes tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, and bags/accessories. NOTE: we do sometimes pause buying due to full inventory and reserve the right to decline items based on our shop inventory needs. We update only our social media accounts when buying is on a pause!   • CONDITION IS KEY: Clothing must be in gently loved or in like-new condition. Please pre-screen your items and make sure they are recently cleaned, free from stains, odors, pet hair, defects or excessive wear. We buy modern and vintage clothing that is on trend and in current style. Our clothing inventory is secondhand and some signs of wear are expected and acceptable, but many clothes are declined for these reasons.

  • DROP OFFS: Unless buying is on pause, you can stop by anytime we are open with your items. No drop offs outside of our open hours are allowed. Please include your contact info inside each bag so we know how to reach you. It could take us 1-3 business days to review your items and message you with our offer.

  • WHAT WE LIKE: We love great condition items from brands like Eloquii, ASOS, Anthropologie, ModCloth, Loft, JCrew, LLBean, Old Navy, Good American, Ava & Viv, and any/all slow fashion brands to name a few. We prioritize buying sizes 2X and up. We love classic pieces, fun prints, and on trend styles. We take in a very limited seasonal inventory of shoes size 9 and up.

  • WHAT WE DONT BUY: Formal bridesmaid style, prom or wedding dresses, undergarments, damaged, musty/smelly, outdated or out of season items. We don’t buy a lot of business/office wear or heels/dress shoes. We don’t take in bulk closet or estate clean-out items that haven’t been pre-screened to our guidelines before being brought in. We buy according to our inventory and shop needs and may decline purchasing any or all items.

  • PAYOUTS: We offer both cash or store credit! Cash payouts are 20% of the resale value of your goods. We know you might want to shop with us, and we offer store credit at a higher 40% of the resale value of your items. We offer cash payouts using either Venmo or via business check. We appreciate our store credit holders and our store credit never expires! Store credit can be used in store only and cant be applied to online orders.

  • PICKING UP OR DONATING ITEMS: We will ask you if you want to pickup or donate the items we don’t purchase. If you plan to pickup, we will hold onto your clothes until the following weekend after you brought them to us. If we don’t hear from you after that time, they will be donated unless otherwise discussed.

  • SHIPPING & RETURN POLICY: All items are shipped from South Portland, Maine using USPS priority mail. We currently only offer shipping within the US. All online orders will be shipped within 3-5 business days. Shipping rates are a flat $10 for all purchases. Artemis is not responsible for lost or damaged packages. Please file claims with the USPS to inquire about any lost packages. We do not offer refunds for lost or stolen packages. All purchases are final sale and we do our best to give fit and style information to ensure you love your Artemis pieces. Reach out to us first to discuss any issues and we will do our best to help resolve them.
